What is up RGL family, this months update ended up having some real bangers. I thought it was going to be a bit on the thin side but ended up surfacing some additional titles that haven’t been highlighted in previous updates. Unfortunately, one of the items I wanted to post was a Kickstarter that has already expired. It is a game published by 6502 Collective, so hopefully they will produce another run after the Kickstarter is filled. I will definitely work on getting these out earlier especially if there is a pre-order closing. That said if you want to get the Mega Man Wiley Wars reprint, you have until tomorrow so act quick.

SNES – Super R-Type I & III
Classic arcade shooters on the SNES. People usually thing of the Sega Genesis when it comes to shooters but there were some gems released on the SNES as well. Retro-Bit released a reprint of these two classics that come on a single cartridge. NES – Metal Storm
Another well known classic, this time for the NES is Metal Storm. This came from one of the best development companies during the 8bit / 16bit era, iREM. This game pushed the NES hardware with large sprites, lots of action and awesome controls. The standard edition is back in stock and is a must have. If you want an original release they go for $100 or more just for a loose cartridge. Definitely a must have for any NES ethusiast and now we have the opportunity to own a boxed copy of this awesome reprint, both the Standard and Collectors Edition are available.

NES – Doodle Drawn
This game may not find itself ranked above games like Little Samson or The Legend of Zelda but a dad helped take his daughters creativity and turn it into a playable Nintendo game. It was by happenstance I found this during Fathers Day but very appropriate. Its a side-scroller that could be used to introduce a younger generation to the joys of the original Nintendo.
MULTIPLE SYSTEMS – NES | SNES | GENESIS – Jim Power
Jim Power is a side-scrolling action platformer brought to us by Piko Interactive. They license titles that were not released or were incomplete. I am not sure where this title falls, but there are versions available on multiple platforms such as the NES, SNES and Sega Genesis.
SNES – GHOUL PATROL and ZOMBIES ATE MY NEIGHBORS
Our friends at Limited Run Games continue to show their support for the retro gaming community bringing us not one but two SNES titles this month. Both Ghoul Patrol and Zombies Ate My Neighbors are in the style of Smash TV, top down run and gun. I love that in 2021 I can buy NES and SNES games sealed brand new in box.

SEGA GENESIS – IRENA GENSIS METAL FURY
I was excited to get an email that this project was still available for pre-order as it was out of stock on Megacats website. This is a new schmup made for the Sega Genesis by White Ninja Studio. The Genesis has a deep bench when it comes to schumps like Thunderforce, M.U.S.H.A., Truxton, Air Buster, etc. Lots of pixel art goodness here at what seems like a fair price. The current release date is Feb 2022, so it will be a nice post holidays gift.
